Ideas and Resources

Whether you’re an AmeriCorps program, member, alumnus, or friend, there are countless ways to support National AmeriCorps Week’s goals of bringing more Americans into service and raising awareness about how AmeriCorps is “getting things done” for your community and for America.

Idea Sharing Calls

To help you plan and promote your AmeriCorps Week event or presentation, we are setting up a series of conference calls where you can learn more about what’s going on and share ideas with headquarters and your peers from across the county.

AmeriCorps Presentation Kit

A great way to participate in AmeriCorps Week is to talk about your AmeriCorps experience to a school or community group. People love hearing about AmeriCorps, and who better to tell them about it than YOU!

Register or Find an Activity or Event

Take a minute to let us know about your AmeriCorps Week project, event, or presentation. We’ll get a truer sense of the scope of activities taking place May 11-18, and the many friends of AmeriCorps across the country can more easily find—and support—activities taking place near them. You can also use the site to share your AmeriCorps presentation with others, add photos, or create your own webpage to advertise your activity.

Promote Your Activity or Event

Every year, thousands of stories about Senior Corps, AmeriCorps, and Learn and Serve America appear in the media – almost all generated by local project staff and volunteers. Publicizing your program in not a goal in itself. It’s a means of building support for your program and increasing your likelihood of success. Taking the time to communicate with the public helps attract resources from your community, including volunteers, sponsors, and funding, and helps educate people about your program. You don’t have to be a media pro to get good coverage, but having some tips and resources can help.
